Zambia Outreach

Our Purpose

At ChristLife Church, our heart beats for our local community, but it also extends far beyond our borders. Every March, we embark on a pilgrimage of faith to Zambia. This isn’t just a road trip; it is a lifeline to communities that are often forgotten by the world, but deeply loved by God.

Below is a look at what our annual Zambia Outreach is all about, and how you can partner with us.

1. The Heart of the Mission

Our vision is simple: To bring the Good News of Salvation and Jesus Christ to the unreached. We focus on the Mabula area and surrounding, ministering to local villages where support is scarce.

This mission has deep roots. Since 2003, we have been committed to taking care of the elderly in these communities, specifically those who have no surviving relatives to care for them. These seniors rely on the land to survive, and when the harvest is lean, they have nothing. Even through the isolation of the Covid pandemic, we made arrangements to ensure they received their food parcels every week.

We believe that the Gospel must be demonstrated in both word and deed.

2. The Long Road North

Getting there is half the battle, but also part of the bonding experience. We travel in a convoy consisting of the church’s small 12-seater bus and a support vehicle. Taking a second vehicle helps reduce the risk of being stranded during the long haul if a breakdown occurs.

The journey spans 6 days in total (there and back). We drive from Kraaifontein, sleeping over in Kimberley and then crossing through Botswana before finally reaching Zambia. It is a long, dusty road, but every kilometer brings us closer to the people we serve.

3. Camp Life

When we arrive on day three, luxury is not on the menu! We set up base camp, pitching our tents and setting up a bush kitchen. This becomes our home for the duration of the outreach.

We choose to camp for a very specific reason: stewardship. By keeping our personal expenses and accommodation costs to an absolute minimum, we can channel more funds directly into the ministry—buying food, supplies, and aid for the villagers.

4. Ministry in the Villages & Schools

Our days are full. We typically head out into the bush twice a day, traveling 20km or more off the beaten track to find villages where some residents have never even visited a main city. We hold sessions that last 3 to 4 hours, preaching the Gospel and praying with people.

We also focus heavily on education. We try to visit at least three schools during the trip. In the past, we have even painted blackboards for schools that had none. The needs are stark, but the smiles of the children are rewarding.

One of the highlights of the trip is Saturday night. We set up equipment in the bush to screen the “Jesus Film” in their local language. It is an incredible sight to see hundreds of people emerge from the darkness to watch, many of them surrendering their lives to Christ for the first time.

5. Clothing the Community

On Sunday, after our service, we focus on practical needs. We distribute clothes to the community, but we do this with dignity and order. We ensure that the clothes actually fit the recipients and that the distribution is fair, so that as many people as possible receive something to wear.

6. Breaking Bread Together

Hunger is a reality in these parts. On Sundays, our team cooks a massive meal to feed everyone who attends the service. For many, this is a rare treat.

We also continue our long-standing support for the elderly. We have a system where seniors can come to the farm every Wednesday to collect meal (maize flour). During our trip, we leave enough funds behind to secure a year’s supply of food for these vulnerable members of society.

7. Medical Aid & Monica’s Clinic

Physical health is just as important as spiritual health. We partner with a local woman named Monica, who runs a clinic from her farm. The government support in these remote areas is non-existent, so Monica is often the only source of medical help.

We bring supplies and items to stock her clinic, ensuring she can continue to treat basic ailments and help her community throughout the year.

Partner With Us

This mission is fueled by faith and funded by generosity. We have a strict and honest budget, covering fuel, travel expenses, and the goods we purchase in Zambia to support the local economy.

Not everyone is called to drive for days and brave the mosquitoes, but you can still be part of this mission. By financially supporting this outreach, you are effectively traveling with us, your contribution feeds a child, clothes a grandmother, and brings the Gospel to a village in the deep bush.

If you would like to contribute, or sponsor someone, any amount would make this vision possible. Please contact us, or use the persons name and Zambia as reference.
